There are no disadvantages to using Protexin at any time!
There are no restrictions on the use of Protexin. This product can be fed at any stage of pregnancy and to lactating animals. There is no withdrawal periods so the product can be fed right up to the day of slaughter / marketing.
Protexin contains microorganisms commonly found in all healthy birds and animals all of which are GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) rated.
According to the published literature, the organisms found in Protexin have never been found to be toxic. Even more than 100 times the recommended level does not cause any problems. None of the ingredients used in the manufacture of Protexin will cause irritations or allergic reactions. They all conform to food regulations and are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
Since the bacteria from Protexin are inactive and inert in excreta there is no persistence of the additive or its residues in slurries, farm yard manure and litter. There are no known effects of Protexin on methanogenesis. Protexin is an inert material it will not persist in the environment. There are no known adverse effects of Protexin on aquatic life, on soil fauna or terrestrial plants.
