What can cause a dysbiosis?

The main causes of dysbiosis in companion animals include:

  • The use of antibiotics
  • Intestinal pathogens
  • Dietary indiscretion (e.g. scavenging)
  • Sudden change of diet
  • Prolonged fasting
  • Stress (e.g. travel, shows and kennels)
  • Life-stage (e.g. weaning and old age).
