Synopsis

The UK's Leading Equine Gut Balancer

Protexin Gut Balancer is a highly palatable probiotic and prebiotic powder designed for daily use. Trusted by professionals and leisure riders alike, it supports optimal digestive function and everyday wellbeing for all horses and ponies.

What Does Gut Balancer Do for Horses?

This supplement works by providing a concentrated source of the probiotic Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This "friendly" yeast promotes fibre digestion and helps release safe calories from the horse's diet. When combined with our unique dual-source prebiotics, a balancer for horses ensures a stable and healthy hindgut environment.

What’s the difference between Gut Balancer and Gut Sponge?

Gut Balancer contains a palatable probiotic and unique dual source Preplex® prebiotics. It is specifically designed for horses and ponies. Use daily to support digestive function and efficiency and for general wellbeing.

Can you soak in water 5 mins before feeding?

If you need to mix Gut Balancer with water, it should be fed as soon as possible after mixing.

Can you give Gut Balancer to weaned foals?

Gut Balancer can be given during weaning and in weaned foals. There will be no issues if your foal consumes a small amount of the mare’s Gut Balancer.

Can Gut Balancer be given to my horse long term?

Gut Balancer is designed to be given daily, for the life of the horse where necessary. The horse’s gastrointestinal system is influenced by many different factors throughout its life and is constantly changing. Therefore any horse at any age can benefit from the support provided by Gut Balancer.

Can Gut Sponge be used alongside Gut Balancer?

Yes. Both Gut Sponge and Gut Balancer support hind gut health, but by different mechanisms. The addition of Gut Balancer provides probiotic and additional prebiotic support. They can be fed together, but when you’re feeding Gut Sponge once daily it’s best to feed Gut Balancer at the opposite end of the day.

What are prebiotics?

A prebiotic is a non-digestible carbohydrate (complex sugar) which acts as a food source for beneficial bacteria and therefore stimulates their growth.
