Can Pro-Fibre be given with other Protexin Products?
Pro-Fibre is safe to be given alongside all other Protexin products.
What is the youngest age I can use Pro-Fibre from?
8 weeks of age.
Does Pro-Fibre need to be given in one dose?
We recommend giving the entire dose of Pro-Fibre once daily but if your animal is unwilling to take the whole amount in one go then the dose can be split between 2 meals throughout the day.
I left my pot of Pro-Fibre in direct sunlight; will it still be ok to use?
It would not cause harm to the animal but there is a chance that the ingredients may have become less effective after exposure to high temperatures.
My pot of Pro-Fibre has just passed the BBE date; can I still use it?
No. We do not advise using any product that has passed the expiry date on the package.
How long do I have to give Pro-Fibre for?
We would advise discussing duration of treatment with your veterinary surgeon. Pro-Fibre can safely be administered long-term.
Can the dose of Pro-Fibre be adjusted?
Yes. Under the guidance of your veterinary surgeon the daily amount of Pro-Fibre administered to your animal can be adjusted as required (increased or decreased).
My pet is allergic to Soya, can I still use Pro-Fibre?
Pro-Fibre does not contain any soya and can safely be used in animals with soya allergies.
My pet is allergic to beef, can I still give Pro-Fibre?
Yes. The flavouring in Pro-Fibre is entirely artificial and contains no actual beef protein or derivatives. This artificial flavour has been designed to ensure there are no allergic responses from animals with allergies to specific meat proteins.
Does Pro-Fibre contain any yeast?
No. Pro-Fibre does not contain yeast.
Does Pro-Fibre contain any wheat?
Yes. Pro-Fibre contains wheat feed and wheat bran and is not advised for use in animals with known wheat allergies.
Does Pro-Fibre contain any dairy?
No. Pro-Fibre is free from dairy.
My pet is currently taking antibiotics. Can Pro-Fibre be given at the same time?
We advise ideally giving Pro-Fibre and antibiotics a few hours apart (antibiotics first).
Can I give Pro-Fibre at the same time as other medications?
We would advise that you give the Pro-Fibre a few hours later than other medications (if this is difficult then a minimum of 1 hour later) to ensure the absorption of other medications is not reduced by the presence of the fibre; there is only a very small risk of this occurring but we would rather be safe.
Is Pro-Fibre safe to use with all other medications?
Yes. There are no contraindications with Pro-Fibre and other medications (apart from administration timings).
Can Pro-Fibre be given to my pregnant/lactating pet?
Yes. Pro-Fibre is safe to be used in pregnant and lactating animals.
How do I administer Pro-Fibre to my pet?
Pro-Fibre is a palatable pellet which can be mixed with the food. We advise leaving the pellets whole but if your pet will not eat them whole they can be crushed (although this may reduce the overall effectiveness of the product).
I cook a home diet; can Pro-Fibre be mixed with cooked food?
Pro-Fibre should never be mixed with hot food or mixed with food prior to cooking as this will kill the beneficial bacteria (probiotic). We advise letting food cool to no more than 'lukewarm' prior to mixing in Pro-Fibre.
I feed my pet dry food so how do I administer Pro-Fibre?
Pro-Fibre is a palatable pellet and can just be added to your animal's normal kibble ration.
